Mixed-Mode Fracture Modelling of the Near-Wellbore Interaction Between Hydraulic Fracture and Natural Fracture

چکیده
Abstract The interaction between hydraulic fractures (HF) and natural (NF) is one of the most fundamental phenomena in fracturing. near-wellbore HF NF significantly affects fracking-related operations including injected fluid flow, proppant transport well productivity. However, nature fracturing modes, combined with hydro-mechanical coupling, poses great difficulties challenges addressing this problem. Literature review suggests that little research has been undertaken on interaction, especially considering fully coupled mixed-mode process. This paper develops a new fracture model incorporating Mohr–Coulomb criterion cohesive crack model. implemented into ABAQUS solver by in-house FORTRAN subroutines. rock matrix interfaces are both flow. developed then validated comparing results analytical solutions experimental results. Hydraulic Fracture Propagation near a Natural Discontinuity
The trajectory of a hydraulically driven crack near natural fractures, faults, and inhomogeneities has been studied using the complex variable hypersingular boundary element technique. The crack trajectories are presented for the cases of an oblique and a steeply inclined fault. It has been demonstrated that natural fractures, faults, and other inhomogeneities generate unstable fracture conÞgur...
متن کاملMixed Mode Fracture Analysis of Multiple Interface Cracks
This paper contains a theoretical formulation of multiple interface cracks in two bonded dissimilar half planes subjected to in-plane traction. The distributed dislocation technique is used to construct integral equations for a dissimilar mediums weakened by several interface cracks. These equations are of Cauchy singular type at the location of dislocation, which are solved numerically to obta...
متن کاملEffect of Rock Fracture Filling on Mode I and II Fracture Toughness
This paper focuses on some fracture toughness tests performed on the pre-cracked Brazilian specimens of rock-like materials. Also the effect of rock fracture filling on the fracture toughness was considered experimentally. Fracture toughness is a key parameter for studying the crack propagation and fragmentation processes in rock structures. Fracture mechanics is an applicable tool to improve ...
متن کاملMixed-mode fracture of human cortical bone.
Although the mode I (tensile opening) fracture toughness has been the focus of most fracture mechanics studies of human cortical bone, bones in vivo are invariably loaded multiaxially. Consequently, an understanding of mixed-mode fracture is necessary to determine whether a mode I fracture toughness test provides the appropriate information to accurately quantify fracture risk. In this study, w...
متن کاملEffect of Hydraulic Fracture on the Fractured Reservoir Based on the Connection with Natural Fractures
Hydraulic fracturing in the fractured reservoirs plays a significant impact on the production rate. In this study, the hydrostatic condition is taken into account, the hydraulic fracturing operation was applied in every direction usinga written distinct element code. In each direction the hydraulic fracture is applied with different lengths and in each level the amount of production is predicte...
